How In-Home Group Massage Works in San Diego
One therapist, one guest at a time, and simple arithmetic for the rest. Here is how a group massage at your San Diego home runs, from room setup to the quote.

The short answer
In-home group massage works on a simple rule: a therapist works on one guest at a time, and guests take turns while the gathering carries on. You choose table or chair, the number of guests and the minutes each person gets, then send one group request. We reply with a schedule and one quote for the whole booking before anything is confirmed.
The rest of this post is the practical detail, so you can plan the day before you send the request.
Guests per therapist per hour
Most of the planning is arithmetic. Take 60 minutes, divide by the session length, and allow a few minutes between guests for fresh linens or a reset.
- 60-minute table sessions: about one guest per therapist per hour.
- 30-minute table sessions: a little under two guests per therapist per hour.
- 15-minute chair sessions: about three people per chair per hour.
So eight friends at 30 minutes each come to a little over four hours with one therapist. Add a second therapist and a second table, and the same group finishes in roughly half the time. If you have a fixed window, say a three-hour afternoon at a rental in Pacific Beach, work backward: the window and the headcount tell you the session length, or how many therapists you need. We do this math for you in the quote, but it helps to know the trade-off going in.
Table or chair
Table massage is a full session. Guests lie on a professional table, undress only to their own comfort level and stay draped throughout. Each one tells the therapist what pressure and focus they want, so a runner can get firm work on the calves while the next guest gets a slow, light Swedish. Group table sessions start at 15 minutes, though most parties choose longer.
Chair massage is seated and fully clothed, with no lotion. Guests sit forward in a supported massage chair for focused work on the neck, shoulders, back and arms. It suits bigger groups, shorter sessions and any setting where people want to walk straight back into the room looking the way they did before. It is also what we bring to offices for corporate chair massage.
Rotation that runs itself
A group day goes smoothly when the next person is ready before the door opens. A few habits help:
- Write a running order and share it in the group chat. Put people with a hard stop first.
- Keep the massage room quiet. A bedroom or den with a door works better than a corner of the kitchen.
- Leave water and a robe where guests come out.
- Decide where the guest of honor goes. For a birthday or a bachelorette party, some people like to go first and float through the rest of the day; others prefer to go last.
Room setup
Each table needs a clear space about 7 by 9 feet near a power outlet. Each chair needs about 6 by 6 feet. We bring the table or chair, fresh linens, lotions for table sessions and music, and set up before the first booked time. You don't rent, prepare or clean anything.
San Diego weather makes outdoor setups tempting, and a patio in Point Loma or a deck in La Jolla can work well. We need flat ground and some privacy from the neighbors. If you are at a hotel or a vacation rental, check the house rules on outside vendors first.
What the quote covers
Group massage is quoted per booking rather than from a rate card, because two groups of eight can need very different days. The quote accounts for:
- the number of guests and the minutes each one gets
- table or chair
- how many therapists the schedule needs
- your location in San Diego County
You get one number for the whole booking before anything is confirmed. For a sense of scale, our pricing page lists individual session rates of $129 for 60 minutes, $179 for 90 and $229 for 120. Add-ons such as cupping or CBD lotion apply to the whole booking, and if any guest is pregnant, tick the pregnant-guest box: CBD and cupping then come off the booking, and her session is side-lying, second or third trimester, after she checks with her doctor or midwife.
How to request
On the booking page, choose a group, then fill in:
- Table or chair.
- Headcount. Groups start at three; for two people, book a couples massage instead.
- Minutes per guest, from 15 minutes up.
- Your preferred date and time window: morning, afternoon, evening or flexible.
- Notes: the occasion, the address type, parking, anything we should know.
Group days involve coordinating therapists, so they are always a request rather than an instant booking. We send the schedule and quote, you say yes, and the day is set. Weekends fill first, so send the request as soon as you have a date.
