Planning a Holiday Chair Massage for Your Office

A December chair massage day starts with a November request. Here is how to match session length to team size, what your office needs to provide, and how the custom quote works.

The short answer

To give your team a chair massage day in December, send the request in November. Chair sessions are fully clothed, 15 to 45 minutes per person, and the session length you pick sets how many people fit per hour. Corporate chair massage starts at $129, and we reply with a custom quote and a suggested schedule for your team.

This post walks through the planning: timing, session length against headcount, what your office provides, and how the quote works.

Why November is the month to plan it

December is short at most offices. Between holiday parties, year-end deadlines and people taking time off, the days when most of the team is actually in the building go quickly. Picking one of those days, getting it on the calendar and getting the budget approved all take time.

For most office events, two to three weeks of lead time is comfortable. Larger events, or days that need more than one therapist, benefit from more. Sending the request in November leaves room for the quote to go to whoever approves it and for the sign-up sheet to circulate before people start their time off.

A few questions worth settling first:

  • Which day has the most people in? For hybrid teams, choose an in-office anchor day.
  • Morning or afternoon? Mornings suit teams with afternoon deadlines. Afternoons can feel like a reward after the work is done.
  • Who owns the sign-up sheet? One person on your side, with the template we send.

Session length vs team size

The math is simple. With a couple of minutes to reset between people, 15-minute sessions work out to about three people per chair per hour. Thirty-minute sessions go deeper into the neck and upper back but see about half as many people.

As a rough guide:

  • A team of about 12: one chair at 15 minutes fits in a morning. At 30 minutes, plan on most of a working day.
  • A team of about 25: one chair at 15 minutes takes a full day; two chairs bring it back to a morning or an afternoon.
  • A team of 30: two chairs at 15 minutes cover it in about five hours.

Fifteen minutes is the length most offices choose: long enough for real work on the shoulders and neck, short enough that people are away from their desks for about as long as a coffee run. If the day is meant as a bigger thank-you, 30 minutes per person feels more like a gift. Sessions can run up to 45 minutes. We build the schedule into your quote, so you don't have to work it out alone.

What your office provides

Very little. We need a quiet room, a conference room or a spare corner with about 6 by 6 feet per massage chair. We arrive about 20 minutes early with the chairs, sanitation supplies and music, and every contact surface is cleaned between sessions. Chair massage uses no lotion and no tables, so the room is back to normal when we pack out.

Everyone stays fully clothed. Each person sits forward in a supported chair for focused work on the neck, shoulders, back and arms, then goes back to their desk. Our corporate chair massage page has the full rundown of how an office visit runs.

What a chair massage day can and can't promise

The honest pitch for a holiday chair massage day is appreciation: a perk people can feel, delivered where they work. We won't quote you a productivity percentage.

The research is small. In a 1996 study of 50 adults, one group got a 15-minute chair massage twice a week for five weeks while a control group relaxed in the same chair. After the sessions, the massage group reported lower anxiety and did math problems faster and more accurately, and by the end of the five weeks their job stress scores were lower. That is one small study from three decades ago, so treat it as encouraging rather than proof. We cover the ROI question in more depth in our post on whether office chair massage is worth it.

If your team party is at someone's home rather than the office, table sessions work too, and our guide to in-home group massage explains the logistics.

How the quote works

There is no rate card. Corporate chair massage starts at $129, and each event gets a custom quote based on team size, how long you want us on site and your location in San Diego County, from a downtown tower to a Sorrento Valley campus. On the booking page, choose a group, pick chair, and add your headcount, minutes per person and preferred date and time window. Office days involve coordinating therapists, so they are always a request. We reply with one all-in quote that is simple to forward for approval.
